The definition of a “one-hit wonder” is: An artist known solely for momentary success of a single piece--especially if that piece overshadows their other work. One-Hit Wonders by Wonder Women is a collection of 14 “rescues” or rediscovered pieces by 11 historical women composers. Most of these composers are women you’ve never heard of and repertoire that you likely won’t find in any other book or collection. In fact, these women are so unknown they can be categorized as “One-Hit Wonders”, although in truth, they have published far more than the single signature pieces included here. My desire is that from curiosity and even demand, more works by these women will find their way into the hands of pianists young and old.
